I want to share a personal story about my journey to achieving a healthy work-life balance few years back. At the time, I faced the constant struggle of finishing work on time and felt like no matter how hard I worked, I wasn’t making the impact I wanted.
My days started early and ended late, but despite those long hours, I wasn’t seeing significant progress in my professional career. Meanwhile, my wife began to express concern about the lack of time I was dedicating to our family.
I was so focused on work that I neglected other important aspects of my life, yet I still didn’t see the results I was hoping for. This imbalance started to take a toll on my physical and mental well-being, affecting my relationships, my spirituality, and my overall happiness.
It wasn’t that I was doing poorly at work—I was okay—but my efforts weren’t translating into meaningful impact. That’s when my wife, who had been working with a personal development coach, suggested I give it a try. Initially, I thought she needed the coaching, not me. But given my struggles, I decided to have a conversation with the coach, and it turned out to be a life-changing decision.
That coach helped me uncover my inner wisdom and introduced me to the world of personal development. As a pharmacist by training, I was used to academic courses and structured learning, but this was something entirely different.
After adopting various productivity methods and, more importantly, upgrading myself to version 2.0, everything changed.
I could list all the things I’ve accomplished since then, but the main takeaway is that no one had highlighted the importance of personal development to me during my career. I believe it’s being discussed more openly now, but it’s something I wish I’d known about earlier.
That’s why I’m sharing this with you today—to bring awareness to the importance of personal development, especially for my regulatory colleagues.
In fact, personal development is one of the five categories we evaluate in our free regulatory health check. In less than five minutes, you can get your customised results and see where you stand on your personal development journey.
